Biogs for Huda & Mayhew
Doctor Tuheen Hudan
Dr. Tuheen Huda qualified in Medicine in 2006 from The University of Manchester. Since then he has practised in a variety of disciplines, specialising in Acute Medicine and Intensive Care.
Post qualification in 2006, Dr. Huda has sought ways in which he could merge the worlds of performing art and medicine for both education and performative purposes.
In July 2011, Dr. Huda left full time medicine to devote more time to his artistic endeavours. Since then he has secured a commission from the Library Theatre, and has worked with Contact Theatre to deliver workshops to young artists. He is currently working on a public engagement piece that deals with the issues and debates around Organ Donation and Transplantation.
Artist Michael Mayhew
Michael Mayhew has been working within performance for over 30 years.
The body is central to this practice, qa practice that is cited as “Important, significant and influential” (Lois Keidan).
Mayhew presents work nationally & Internationally, often running workshops and exchanges in the development of body based practices.
Presenting the work often challenges the audience / performer relationships. Having work significantly within this field for 3 decades Mayhew is able to bring a practical and considered dialogue to this situation, both as mentor and sounding board for the development of ideas.
Mayhew works solely with Blood Donor bags used to preserve blood for the use in blood exchange. This process and practice often challenges the audiences engagement & relationship with their own bodies.
Mayhew has had to undergo a shift in understanding, learning and a reclamation process with his own body through the processes of blood letting.
